for the plot
The exhibition is curated as if entering the backstage of a theatre. Following the concept of experimental theatre that Fiama Hasse Pais Brandão, a Portuguese writer, developed during the Portuguese dictatorship, the work unfolds ideas of fascist narratives versus fiction as a form of resistance. Mimicking an agricultural drone vessel in black clay pottery, this object centers soft power, underscoring a collective suspension of disbelief. The sound piece accompanying the exhibition was made by the sound artist VAN DER, and it is a reinterpretation the two artists worked on together, based on The Will, a theatre play by Brandão that was censored by the Portuguese state and never staged.
